Preparatory Course for Admission to Government School Primary 2 – 5

Course	Admission Criteria
Preparatory Course for Admission to Government School Primary 2	Applicants must be between 7 to 9 years of age as at 1st January of the year they are enrolling.
Preparatory Course for Admission to Government School Primary 3	Applicants must be between 8 to 10 years of age as at 1st January of the year they are enrolling.
Preparatory Course for Admission to Government School Primary 4	Applicants must be between 9 to 11 years of age as at 1st January of the year they are enrolling.
Preparatory Course for Admission to Government School Primary 5	Applicants must be between 10 to 12 years of age as at 1st January of the year they are enrolling.

Additional Requirement: 
Applicants are required to sit for the English placement test to determine the academic standard.

Preparatory Course for Admission to Government School Secondary 1 – 3

Preparatory Course for Admission to Government School Secondary 1	Applicants must be between 12 to 14 years of age as at 1st January of the year they are enrolling.
Preparatory Course for Admission  to Government School Secondary 2	Applicants must be between 13 to 15 years of age as at 1st January of the year they are enrolling.
Preparatory Course for Admission  to Government School Secondary 3	Applicants must be between 14 to 16 years of age as at 1st January of the year they are enrolling.

*Students are placed in classes according to their standard in the English Language.

This course is targeted at students 12 to 16 years old who wish to gain entrance into Singapore Government Schools through the various examinations held by MOE and individual schools. The course aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge of the Singapore syllabus, mainly English and Mathematics.

Reading Comprehension Skills and Strategies	Process and comprehend age-/year level appropriate texts at literal and inferential levels. Apply critical reading by focusing on implied meaning, higher-order thinking, judgment and evaluation.
Reading Different Types of Rich Texts	Apply close and critical reading of a variety of literary selections and informational/functional texts,  from print sources, for learning in the literary/ content areas and to understand how lexical and grammatical items are used in the context.

Writing

Writing Skills and Strategies	Generate and select ideas for writing and representing for a variety of purposes, audiences, contexts and cultures. Develop, organise and express ideas coherently and cohesively in writing and representing for a variety of purposes, audiences, contexts and cultures.
Type of Texts	Produce a variety of texts for creative, personal, academic, and functional purposes, using an appropriate register and tone

Grammar

Use of Terms	Use metalanguage for learning and talking about language structures and language in use.
Grammar at Word, Phrase  & Sentence Levels	Apply knowledge of grammatical rules at word, phrase and sentence levels.

02 Modules Offered

Mathematics

This module covers the topics as per MOE Syllabus for the respective level. It is mainly to help students build up a very strong foundation for further studies.
Academic Progression:	Students who pass the respective AEIS or S-AEIS Examination can gain entry into Singapore Government Schools.
Assessment Methods:	Final assessment is based on written examinations set by the Ministry of Education Singapore. Internal assessments include Mock Examinations and monthly progressive tests.
Teaching Processes:	Raising Awareness Structuring Consolidation Facilitating Assessment for Learning Enabling Application Guiding Discovery Instructing Explicitly Progressive report on students’ development (monthly test results and Mock Examinations)
Manner of Teaching:	Using textbooks and workbooks Using past year series of examination papers Using lecture notes
Graduation Criteria:	Students are deemed graduated when they have completed the course with at least 90% attendance for international students and 75% attendance for local students. All fees must be duly paid in full.
Attendance Requirement:	All Student Pass Holders are required to maintain a record of 90% and above. Failure to do so may lead to cancellation of student pass.  Non-Student Pass Holders are required to maintain a record of 75% and above. Failure to do so may result in suspension or termination of the student.
Average Teacher-Student Ratio:	1 : 15
Course Duration:	Full-time: 6 months (weekly 5 days x 6 hrs) Part-time: 6 months (weekly 3 days x 6 hrs)
Awards:	Upon graduation, students will be awarded a Statement of Achievement.
